Bio

Welcome to my website. I am the Marek Professor of Public Policy and Economics at the University of California at Berkeley. I am also co-Director for the Monetary Economics program of the National Bureau of Economic Research and co-Editor of the Brookings Papers on Economic Activity. I am a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a Fellow of the Econometric Society. I hold a Ph.D. in Economics from Harvard University and an A.B. from Princeton University.

My main area of research is empirical macroeconomics with a focus on monetary economics and business cycles.

I teach Intermediate Macroeconomics at the undergraduate level (Econ 101B) and co-teach the fall semester of the first-year macroeconomics sequence in our PhD program (Econ 202A). I am writing a textbook on Intermediate Macroeconomics. Seven chapters of this book are avaiable under teaching as well as all my undergraduate and graduate lecture slides. I hope you find these useful.
